As Bangladesh prepares for its 2026 parliamentary election amidst a volatile information landscape, Digitally Right convened a critical dialogue on November 2, 2025. The event, “Building a Collective Response to Election Disinformation,” brought together journalists, civil society, election observers, and fact-checkers to discuss initial findings from new research supported by The Asia Foundation and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
A dominant theme was the immense scale of the disinformation threat. Participants agreed that traditional media and monitoring approaches are no longer sufficient to combat modern digital threats, highlighting an urgent need for new verification workflows.
Faced with these systemic challenges, the dialogue participants converged on a crucial way forward: a systemic, coalition-based response. The consensus was that isolated efforts are insufficient and that a rapid-response hub is needed to formalize collaboration between media, fact-checkers, and election observers, enabling them to amplify verified information effectively.
